In Latin and German., Script: written by three scribes in gothic script (littera textualis); one scribed copied fol. 1, another copied fol. 2r, and a third copies fol. 2v., and Decoration: 2-line initials at the beginning of the antiphon on fol. 1 are in red; the guide letters for these initials are still visible in light brown ink and some have been ornamented, including one with a crude figure of a person; 2-line initials at the beginning of verses on fol. 1 are in black with black penwork; fol. 2v begins with a very crude 2-line round D in red; rubrics written in red; musical notation is in black and on fol. 1 is on a 4-line staff in black; on fol. 2r it is on a 5-line staff in black; punctuated with the punctus.

In Latin., Script: written in gothic script (littera textualis)., and Decoration: 1-line initials of each verse are in brown highlighted with red; punctuated with the punctus and the punctus elevatus.
The manuscript contains a book of hours, use of Sarum (ff. 1-138v), and a Missal (ff. 139r-236v). It was produced in England, in liturgical Gothic bookhand on vellum, in two phases. The first section, consisting of quires 1 and 3-18 (ff. 1-6, 17-83, and 86-137), was produced around 1390, perhaps in London. Around 1420 the manuscript was augmented with a second section, consisting of quires 2 and 19-31 (ff. 7-16, 84-85, and 138-236).

On the flat spine and partly on the covers, a label with the handwritten title "Heures / manuscrites / Sur Vélin. / d'une belle / Conservation". and Script: Copied by one hand, writing Gothica Textualis Formata in two sizes. The scribe Pierre Berger, priest of the church of Our Lady in Bourg-en-Bresse (France, dépt. de l'Ain), is unrecorded.

The outside has an inscription, 19th century, "Some leaves of early English History in Norman French supposed to have come from Malmesbury Abbey." A similar inscription occurs on f. i verso.
