A thin man in a cap pulled down on his head feeds a morsel of food to an obese woman who combs a wig in her hand as they sit on a sofa before a table laid with lunch. They are in a well-appointed sitting room decorated with a mirror above a fireplace with a mantel on which sits a clock, a sheet of music entitled 'Romance', and under a glass vitrine, a statuette of man holding a bird on his finger. The fire screen is decorated with an image of two love birds. On the left edge is only a portion of painting, but it shows a bird perched on the finger of the sitter's hand. They seem all to have been designed, and in some cases etched, by Godissart de Cari, and all are placed under his name in the British Museum.
