- A formal scholarly certificate "Ijāzah" given by the Muslim scholar ʻUthmān Nūrī ibn Muḥammad Amīn al-Miyāwardī (could not be identified) to his student ʻUmar Luṭfī ibn al-Ḥājj Muḥammad Ḥilmī Afandī al-ʻarīf bi-Munlā Ismāʻīl Zādah al-Arkhawī (could not be identified). In the "Ijāzah" the teacher enumerates the subjects studied and authorizes his student to teach them. He gives the student advice on how to teach, how to treat his students and how to conduct himself to achieve the ultimate goal, God's favor and acceptance. The teacher also mentions in the "Ijāzah" the teachers from whom he received his learning and the unbroken chain of scholars up to the very first master. The "Ijāzah" bears the stamp of ʻUthmān Nūrī. It was given on 4 Jumādá al-Ākhirah, 1312 Hijrī (3 December, 1894). Place of issuing not mentioned.

- Abstract:
- A treatise on Sufism by ʻAbd al-Ghanī ibn Ismāʻīl al-Nābulusī (1641-1731), a famous Ṣufī, a prolific author and poet from Damascus (Syria) who traveled extensively all over the Middle East and died and buried in Damascus, being an elucidation and a commentary on "Fuṣuṣ al-ḥikam", a famous work on sufism by Ibn al-ʻArabī (Muḥyī al-Dīn ibn ʻAlī, 1165-1240), one of the most famous, prolific and controversial sufis and auhtors, with some 400 works to his credit, born in Murcia (Andalusia, Spain), died and buried in Damascus (Syria). The book was read by the copyist Ḥusayn ibn Ṭuʻmah al-Baytimānī (Baytamānī, al-Baytumānī, d. 1175 H/1761 or 1762, cf. Brockelmann, GAL, G II, 351), also a prolific author and sufi from Damascus (Syria) with some other scholars and disciples in the presence of the author himself at his home in al-Ṣāliḥiyah (a neighborhood in the city of Damascus, Syria) on Thursday, 8 Shaʻbān, 1140 (18 March, 1728). The copying was finished on Saturday, the beginning of Jumād al-Awwal, 1140 H (13 December, 1727), probably in Damascus, Syria.

- A commentary on a work by Hippocrates, the father of medicine, and other medical treatises. It is not certain what books by Hippocrates the present manuscript covers and who is the commentator but it appears to deal with the whole field of medicine. It is divided into ten sections: 1. Cures and methods of treatment (folios: 1b-21b). 2. Treatment of swelling (folios: 21b-30b). 3. Kitāb Kāmil al-ṣināʻah al-ṭibbīyah (folios: 301b-70a) (A book by this title is attributed to ʻAlī ibn al-ʻAbbās al-Majūsī (active 10th century-11th century)). 4. Treatment of eye sores (folios: 71b-89a). 5. Treatment of small pox and measels (folios: 91a-124b). 6. Methods for treating each member of the body (folios: 125b-160b). 7. Avoiding epidemic diseases (folios: 161b-169a). 8. Preparing travelers on land and sea and equipping them with the necessary advice, caution and medicine (folios: 169b-172a). 9. Treatment of arthritis, gout, knee and hand pain, hip and spine pain, treating varicose veins, etc. (folios: 175b-188a). 10. The pharmacology of Ibn Māsawayh (Yūḥannā ibn Māsawayh, d. 857 or 858) and the pharmacology of Niqulāwus (Nicolaus Myrepsus, active 13th century) (folios: 189b-222a). - Autograph letter, in Arabic Maghrabi script, conveying a greeting to Major John Owen in Raleigh, and consisting chiefly of quotations from the Qur'an and from treatises on Arabic grammar. Quotations from the Qur'an include: Sūrat al-Najm (21-23); Sūrat al-Masad (1-2); Sūrat al-Baqarah (285-286); Sūrat Fuṣṣilat (46); Sūrat 'Abasa (34-37); Sūrat al-Infiṭār (19); Sūrat al-Nabaʼ (40); Sūrat al-Mulk (1-13). Quotations from grammatical treatises include verses from Mulḥat al-iʻrāb (Ḥarīrī) and Alfīyat Ibn Mālik (Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd Allāh). In the center of the first page, a geometric drawing encloses the Arabic text "Shaykh General Jim Owen," along with two unidentified words. In addition to the text relating to John and James Owen and the quotations, Said expresses a wish to see a place [Kaba?] in Africa. and With cover letter, in English, from John Louis Taylor, Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, dated Raleigh, North Carolina, 1819 October 10, to Francis Scott Key, George Town [Washington, DC]. Taylor describes Said's history and relationship with his owner James Owen, and requests Key's assistance in obtaining a translation of the enclosed manuscript. He also asks for Key's advice in obtaining an Arabic Bible for Said, and discusses his hope that Said could be persuaded to return to Africa with "the Colonization Society," likely the American Colonization Society, of which both Taylor and Key were members.

Moses Stuart was Professor of Biblical Studies at Andover Theological Seminary from 1810 to 1848., Omar ibn Said, also known as Moro or Moreau, was a West African Muslim born and educated in the Futa Toro region on the Senegal River. He was sold into slavery in approximately 1807 and transported to the United States. From approximately 1810 until the end of his life, Said was owned by politician James Owen of Bladen County, North Carolina, brother of North Carolina Governor John Owen., and Title devised by cataloger.
