Abstract:
"The interior of an apothecary's room: jars on shelves; a counter with drawers, pestle and mortar, flasks, &c. A bust of Galen stands on the lintel of the door (right). An alarmed undergraduate in cap and gown stands clasping his stomach. The doctor faces him triumphantly, with raised arms and holding a pill-box. His man, who wears an apron, walks off with a large box inscribed 'Anti-Fibbibus'. The (prose) inscription below the title relates that a 'College Wag' called on a 'travelling Empiric' and asked to be cured of a bad memory, and a habit of lying. He is cured by the 'gilded pill called - Pillula Memoria - Anti Fibbibus!!' The youth complains that he is poisoned with Asafœtida, the doctor answers that he speaks the truth and will never forget the medicine, so is cured."--British Museum online catalogue

Paste-down on inside of front cover says: “Contents. Baron & Feme. Parent & Child.” Recto of first page says: “English Law & Connecticut Law Contrasted.” I don’t see any indication on the item regarding who took the notes or when they were made. The volume is fairly tightly bound, but in good shape.--Finding aid., Notebook 2: Also 10x16 cm, also approx. 40 sheets, the first sheet is blank, followed by 9 sheets with writing on both sides – the remainder of the sheets are blank. First sheet that contains writing headed as follows: “Litchfield September 19th 1792. New Trials. Rule –”. The text block is about 3/4 detached from the cover of this volume, and there is water or mold damage on the insides of the front and back covers. The separating of the cover has loosed the binding somewhat on the interior pages and they are easy to open.--Finding aid., Notebook 3: Also 10x1 cm, also approx.. 40 sheets with writing on both sides. From the Park Family collection., Volume 2: 1 large notebook bound in leather. The folder heading says: "Reeve, Tapping, 1744-1823, and James Gould, 1770-1838. Lectures on law: notebook kept by unidentified student at Litchfield Law School, 1811. -- Even though the folder says unidentified, the spine of the volume contains the following embossed on red leather: “Lectures on Law” and E.F. Tattnall”. There are 250 sheets in this volume, the first 2 and the last 1 of which are unnumbered. The remainder are numbered pages 1-94. Most of the pages contain writing, but there are scattered blank pages, and pages 471-494 at the end of the volume are blank. Second unnumbered page at the beginning of the volume says: "Lectures on Law delivered by the Hon'ble Tapping Reeve, and James Gould Esq,r, at Litchfield Conn't. AD 1811. Vol: 2nd".
