Drawing showing the interior of the Great Parlour or Refectory at Strawberry Hill. The chimney-piece is visible at left, above which hang the portraits of Sir Horace and Galfridus Mann flanking a painting by Reynolds. On the right, the large painting of the Ladies Waldegrave hangs above a bureau on which a clock with a bronze figure of a reading woman sits. On the far wall is a window with some painted glass at top, on either side of which hangs a pier glass. Against the left wall are two sofas upholstered in red and white; black chairs of Gothic design are against the opposite wall on the right. Watercolor drawing depicting a spider from three perspectives: from the front while it stands on its legs, from the side while it stands on its legs, and from the rear while it rests on its back. The species is probably Lycosa tarantula, which was formerly known by the names Phalangius/Phalangium or Tarantula and is found in southern Europe, especially in the Apulia region of Italy. Drawing of the interior of the Round Drawing Room at Strawberry Hill. An arched doorway is at center, the door open and the Gallery and some of its furnishings visible beyond. The back of the door is decorated with Gothic tracery; the corners of the doorway, as well as the ceiling above, have quatrefoils in their ornamentation. Two armchairs upholstered in floral fabric sit on either side of the door. The chair on the left sits next to Japan cabinet with two branched candlesticks and the basalt head of Jupiter Serapis (?) on top of it; a vase decorated with arms and the ring device of the Medici rests beneath it. The chair on the right sits next to a Japan coffer on a gilt frame, a vase of Florentine fayence beneath it. On the wall above the door hangs the portrait of Margaret Lemon. Further left on the wall a landscape painting is partially visible; the left half of Nicolo Poussin's painting The education of Jupiter can be seen hanging on the wall to the right.
