According to the d'Este records and the surviving printing contract, the Duke originally commissioned 1000 (paper) copies, finally paying for 224. Three copies are reported, all printed on vellum., Imperfect: wanting four preliminary leaves found in other two known copies, constituting a preface by Panetti bearing a date two months later than the imprint., Imprint from colophon: Impressum Ferrarie p[er] magi[ste]m Laure[n]tium de Rubeis de Vale[n]tia. First leaf of calendar repaired, with no loss of text., Signatures: pi⁴ 2pi⁸ 2a-2f⁸2g⁴, a-o⁸p⁶, A-D⁸E⁴., Three full-page illuminated borders of floral spraywork and gold discs, medallions with rabbits, beards and deers; figurated acanthus initials on gold ground, with half lenght portraits of David, St. Paul and an unidentified Saint, 5 ll. (leaves aa1v, a1r, A1r); alternate red and blue penwork initials; text rubricated throughout in red and blue, with approximately 67 decorated gold initials on blue or red ground, and many smaller initials with contrasting scroll-work; f. a1r: laurel wreath housing an unidentified shield of arms., Title from Hain., and Unidentified coat of arms with initials "B G" incorporated into illuminated border on leaf a1 (possible identification with Bartolomeo Goggio, an Este courtier).
