She wears a high conical cap trimmed with lace and ribbons, a hooded cloak over a voluminous skirt ornately embroidered at the hem. The man in profile to the left walks after her. His left hand holds a tasselled cane which rests on his shoulder, his right is thrust under his waistcoat. He is fashionably dressed with a laced hat, and his coat appears to have epaulettes."--British Museum online catalogue
