An African woman known as 'Sartje' or the Hottentot Venus stands, left, in profile, a smoking pipe in her mouth and tall staff in her right hand. She has an enormous posterior and stands nude except for a pair of garters around her calves, a thin girdle round her waist, a beaded headdress and beaded necklace. Grenville stands behind her but looks back over his shoulder at her. Dressed in formal court dress, he too is depicted with an enormous posterior. Grenville says: Well I never expected Broad Bottoms from Africa! but one should never dispair! Mind Sherry dont let your Fireey nose touch the Venus for if theres any conbustibls about her we shall be blown up!!" In his pocket is a paper inscribed Chaselor [sic]. Between them, half-kneeling, Sheridan measures her bottom using a compass and answers: I shall be carefull your Lordship! but such a spanker it beats your Lordship's hollow."

A satire on Queen Caroline's alleged affair with Bartolomeo Bergami. On the left is the figure of Queen Caroline, with a parasol in her right hand and holding the hand of a child with her left hand. The child says "Only look- how he kicks!!" Her response is "Yes, yes, child- Many will be upset before it's over.-" The donkey, wearing a rosette and elaborate saddle, bucks his rider, Bergami, who says "I'm not a great rider - I only ride a Donkey!!!" A servant dressed in oriental costume makes reference to himself and his master, saying "My master and I are both Greeks." The grotto behind the servant has a sign "Grotto. Villa d'Este"; above the grotto is a wind vane with an arrow pointing left on which is inscribed "Non mi Recordo." The white structure of Villa d'Este proper is seen on the left above the bushes, with Lake Como and the mountains beyond in the center background. In the foreground, amongst the flowers, is a potted orange tree on the left and a potted pineapple on the right

"Napoleon, scarcely caricatured, stands in the centre of the design, pointing with left forefinger to a pile of cannon-balls in the right foreground inscribed 'Forse, meat Balls for the Lads of Paris'. Just behind him, and emerging from clouds, stand the Devil (left) and Death (right), directing his actions. Napoleon is flanked by two much taller supporters: an Italian brigand holding up a pole inscribed 'Plunder' to which a limp purse is tied, and with a pistol in his left hand. On the right is a savage dishevelled butcher, holding up a knife, with a noose in the right hand. Both wear belted tunics. These three are identified by an inscription below the design: 'Capt of Starved Banditty from the Alps, Ad Camp,, The Aghast Emperor & his two Friends & Pillars of the State,, Butcher from Elba. Generalissimo'. All are dominated by a larger figure, emerging from clouds above Napoleon's head, which has a scaly body and streaming hair, styled 'Deamon of War Presideing over the Tyrant'. His extended right hand points to the words 'Boundless Ambition' in large letters on a background of fire and lightning of which he is the centre. In his left hand is the shaft of a pennant inscribed: 'We, Come, to Redres:s Grievances'. Dark clouds and lightning extend left and right over ranks of soldiers in the middle distance who watch Napoleon. Those on the right are a ragged, dilapidated, and motley crew, some with pitchforks; they shout "Vive la Empre . . . [sic]" and "Vive la Boun. . . ." "A parson, just arrived at an inn, a grosser Dr. Syntax (see British Museum Satires No. 11507), makes advances to a comely and willing chambermaid, who holds warming-pan, lighted candle, and saddle-bags, and is conducting him to his room. They are at the foot of the staircase. A young military officer on the stairs tipsily directs a stream towards the parson's hat. On the wall behind the latter: 'Fountain Inn-Entertainment for Man and Horse Gentlemen supplied with Fishing Tackle &c &c'. Behind his back (right) an elderly man in a night-shirt looks angrily from a room, holding a lighted candle.
