In Middle English; original text on bifolium is in Latin. and Drawn on the blank page of a bifolium once used as the flyleaf of a Latin Psalter (circa 1290-1310) that may have been written for the church of St. Botolph in Essex.

Probably an autograph. 3) Anonymous treatise in four parts attacking the apology which Cardinal William Allen (1532-1594) published in 1587 for Sir William Stanley's action in the Netherlands in the preceding year. 4) Accounts regarding tenements; one is headed "Lambeth". 5) Account of a journey through the Middle East, made in 1578 and attributed by another hand to an unrecorded Sir Anthony Standen. 6) Definition of terms related to the Turkish empire encountered in art. 5. 7) Description of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany under Francesco Maria de' Medici (1541-1587). 8) Ferdinand Alvarez de Toledo, Duke of Alva (1508-1582), Proposal addressed to King Philip II of Spain regarding the conquest of Portugal, made 25 May 1579, in English translation. 9) Description of the Benedictine convent of Camaldoli near Arezzo. 10) Short description of England and Scotland. 11) Accounts signed William Garnett; the last one is dated from the 33d year of Queen Elizabeth (1591/1592). In Latin., Script: Written in various styles of Anglicana, with some portions in gothic bookhand, by four scribes. Scribe 1) ff. 1r-10r; Scribe 2) ff. 10v-30r; Scribe 3) ff. 31r-107v; Scribe 4) f. 75r to the top of 76r (perhaps to supply text missing from the exemplar)., Blue initials with elaborate red, blue, and black penwork borders that almost totally encompass the written space on ff. 1r and 31r (trimmed along upper and outer edges); similar initials in blue with red penwork designs extending entire length of folio introduce each new section of text., and Binding: Nineteenth century. Brown sheepskin, blind- and gold-tooled. Rebacked.

The text was almost certainly originally complete but now lacks the Prologue and the opening stanzas of Book I, opening at the line "For to be crowned in that regeous" and lacking the final few leaves of text as well. There is also a textual lacuna between f92v and f93r, Contemporary textual corrections and insertions marked by red crosses. Occasional pen trials and names in contemporary hands, and Autograph letter signed from Frederic Madden to Lord Braybrooke, 1840 March 9, tipped in at front of volume. The letter contains a description of the manuscript and advises that it be rebound while preserving the initials of Mary Sidney

Autograph manuscript, signed, of a highly decorated and illustrated genealogy of the rulers of England from Egbert of Wessex to Queen Elizabeth I. The genealogical trees are illustrated with coats of arms, in full color, as well as marriage symbols and other decorations. Pages 13-14 and 33-34 are parchment rather than paper and contain an abbreviated and stylized family tree for Elizabeth I; color illustrations of an angelic figure with a trumpet and an armored knight; and a full-color chart with the white and red roses of York and Lancaster as the central roundel containing the name of Elizabeth I. The charts are followed by "Briefe observations of the disposition, of everie severall kynge of England from William the Conqueror untill this present 1592." The text concludes with Colman's monogram in red ink. The volume concludes with a full-color illustration of the coat of arms of Sir Francis Bacon

In French., Script: Written probably by one hand in Northern Gothica Textualis Libraria, with loops or bold and calligraphic extensions at the ascenders at the top line., Red heightening of the majuscules. 2-line flourished initials in red and blue, with extensions in the margins or in the intercolumnar space; the alternance of red and blue initials is mostly not respected., The manuscript is waterstained and considerably trimmed. Many lower edges are defective., and Binding: Ca. 1900 de luxe gold-tooled maroon morocco over cardboard in brown leather box, by Riviere & Son; gold-tooled armorial stamp in the middle of the front cover. Gold-tooled spine with five raised bands and title "ROMANT DE GUI DE WARWIC ET DE LA BELLE FELICE". Gilt edges.
