- The diaries describe an 1849 expedition by way of St. Joseph, Fort Kearney, Fort Laramie, South Pass, Sublette's Cut-off, Bear River, Cantonment Loring, Raft River, the Humboldt, Lassen's Route to Deer Creek, and Bruff's camp. They contain maps and sketches from the journey and notes on life in California. The journals were written from the diaries. The notebooks contain more sketches from the trip and of equipment. There are memoranda of supplies and equipment, routes, and remedies.

- Holograph manuscript diary, written by Ralph W. Pope while employed as a telegrapher in British Columbia by the Collins Overland Telegraph Company. The diary describes his experiences as a member of an exploring party in the Fraser River region led by Franklin Leonard Pope, and his work in constructing telegraph lines in the region and as a telegrapher in Quesnel.

- Author possibly an English military adventurer who traveled through the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy., Binding: contemporary brown calf, with gold tooling of Lyonese style with semis of eaglets., Descriptions of military machines are accompanied by colored illustrations., Ex libris Rhys Jenkins. Bequest of James M. Osborn, 1976., In the preface to "The Compound of Alchemy" (Osborn fa16), Rabbards notes that he has "these fortie yeares amongst manie other most commendable exercises and inventions of so warlike Engines, founde out divers devices of rare service, both for Sea and land" and expresses his intention to "impart some other rare experiments of Distillations and Fire-Workes of great service, not hitherto committed in writing or put in practise by any of our nation." This apparently refers to Osborn a8, the only known copy of the work., Raphe (or Ralph) Rabbards, born slightly before 1531, published "The Compound of Alchemy" by George Ripley (see Osborn fa16) in 1591., and Signature on f. 1 of W. Bayntun, Gray's Inn.

- Abstract:
- Autograph manuscript treatise in two parts, containing definitions and problems in mathematics. The first part, dated 1708, concerns arithmetic operations. The second part, dated 1710, concerns geometry and trigonometry, with sections on applications in construction trades and astronomy and with extensive sections on navigation. Sections are illustrated with ink drawings and geometric diagrams. Several linear scales and volvelles are sewn in.
