Marriage contract, manuscript, ink on vellum, dated the 6th of Adar 5545 at Firentsi (1785). A rectangular ketubah with a rounded top. Biblical verses surround the text and there are repeated statements expressing the wish that God bless the bride and groom as he blessed the patriarchs and matriarchs. There is a seal of the city above the text. The ink is faded. In addition to the signatures of the two witnesses, the groom�s signature also appears on the opposite side of the document. There is a note in Italian at the bottom that affirms that the ketubah was registered in the community�s book page 52, by the registrar Raffael Calo on March 15th, 1785.

Marriage contract, manuscript, ink and paint on vellum cut in the shape of an arch, dated 8th of Elul 5640 (1880) at Firentsi. The text is written in Italian block letters, however the ink of the text is somewhat faded in places. Painted vegetal flourishes and blessings for the bride and groom serve as a decorative border around the text. At the top of the ketubah is the verse ""I wait for Thy salvation, O Lord"" (Gen. 49:18) and two biblical scenes painted in miniature: the binding of Isaac and Jacob�s dream of the angels on the ladder. The angels, in a most unusual depiction, are descending stairs with outstretched swords, as if about to do battle.

Above the text is an arcade of five scalloped and pointed arches. Three of the arches contain vases with red roses, and two contain a citation from Isaiah 61:10. Below the text is a long rectangular box which contains the signature of five witnesses. Along the border are blessings to the bride and groom which begin with the word ""siman"" a sign, e.g. a sign of blessing, a sign of joy, a sign of glory, etc. The text is written in block letters. The entire ketubah is enclosed in a red painted panel. Herat ketubot often have an additional line at the conclusion of the text. In this ketubah it states: ""May they be fruitful and multiply with children and sustenance in the community of Israel, and may we be privileged [to see] the coming of the Redeemer in the merit of Moses, Aaron and Samuel.
