A collection of six gaming counters or monetary tokens from the gambling houses and clubs of Georgian London. Four were made by John Milton (signed "J. Milton f." or "J.M" on the smaller pieces) with an ace of spades encircled with the quote "Honi soit qui mal y pense", wreathed and crowned. The two others by Milton have on the obverse the initials "S.F." (S. Fiuri, in Bury Street St. Mary Axe) and the date "1 May 1792" and a value of "XII" or "VI". The two other Milton counters are marked "S&L" indicating Smith & Lockwood and the other "JL" for John Lister in Haymarket. Another small token in white metal issued by the "Cocoa Tree" with the value on the obverse "One guinea". The last counter in gilt-brass issued by "Free Mason Tavern" and marked "462' in the center and on the obverse "M. Richold Guina." with laurels above and below

The young couple are seen in a large, well-furnished room that is in a state of disorder after a night's entertainment; the Viscount is collapsed in a chair having just arrived, the clock showing 1:20 a.m. His sword lies at his feet, broken, and a bonnet hangs from his pocket, suggesting his infidelity; the lap dog sniffs at him suspiciously. The wife's evening's activities at home are suggested by the book "Hoyle on whist" open on the rug in the middle of the floor, a deck of cards on the floor below a card table in the next room, and in the foreground two violins, one with its case open, on the back of an overturned chair, suggesting the wife's own infidelity. The estate steward walks away in disgust at his apparent failure to engage either the husband or the wife in addressing the wad of bills that he has in his hands or the ledger under his arm; in his pocket he carries a pamphlet entitled "Regeneration." Through an archway, a disheveled and sleepy servant scratches his cap; the walls are decorated with paintings of religious figures

"Satire on gullible youths and dishonest prostitutes. A bedroom in which a young countryman is seated at a table between two young women. His right leg is slung across the legs of the woman on the left; she wears a quilted petticoat and her neckline plunges to reveal a breast; she puts an arm around his shoulder and with the other picks his purse from pocket. His left arm is around the waist of the other woman, who gazes seductively at him and offers a punchbowl; playing cards lie on the table and the Queen of Hearts has fallen to the floor.
