- In a fashionable restaurant decorated with plants and a chandelier, three men, one in a military frock coat, sitting at a table with a punch bowl and glasses, express surprise as the waiter hands them the bill for their lunch which included beefsteak, various liquors, ice cream and bread. A pretty hostess stands behind the counter on the left writing out another bill. Below the image is the caption" Goddam! Quinze cent francs pour un déjeuner!!!! C'est beaucoup fort cher--- yes, yes yes ...... .

A thin elderly woman, similarly dressed, stands looking at her in profile to the right. [Bottom image]: A fashionably dressed woman sits in profile to the left, at an ornate table raised above the floor of the café, studying a pamphlet or menu on which is the word 'Paris'. Her arm-chair is decorated with ornaments, the arm terminating in a ram's head. Customers and waiters (left) are on a smaller scale. - A collection of holograph letters from Beauford Delaney addressed (collectively) to his friend, Don Freeman, Freeman's wife, Lydia, and their son, Roy. The letters span the years 1950-1968, although two empty envelopes, franked with the dates 1969 and 1970 are included. The letters cover events in Delaney's life, spent during most of this period in Paris, and news of mutual friends. Also included are an ink sketch by Delaney, dated 1967, and two letters from Richard A. Long to Don Freeman, dated 1976, concerning Delaney
