Sidmouth as a Chinese doctor feels his pulse with concern. At the King's feet is a long rolled document headed 'List of Addresses presented to Caroline Queen of [Engla]nd'. Behind (right), a melancholy Chinese messenger hands Bloomfield (a Chinese wearing a large sword) a paper: 'Bill Thrown Out'. The latter registers dismay with raised arms. On the right, a hatched-faced woman, in a Duchess of Devonshire hat and costume, sits in front of a harpsichord with a sheet of music entitled "Time has not thinned my flowing hair." A drawing of the room at Horace Walpole's Strawberry Hill villa that connected the Gallery with the Holbein Chamber. An arched passageway dominates the right side of the image, thorough which the edge of a canopy bed and a chair are visible. Beyond this furniture is another arched passageway leading into the Holbein Chamber, with the chimneypiece and its surroundings plainly visible. The long and narrow connecting room makes up the foreground, its walls and ceiling decorated with the simple motif of parallel lines periodically intersecting to create a lattice. A stained glass window is seen at the far end of the room, on the left edge of the image
