- Abstract:
- "Bond Street, the pavement receding diagonally from left to right, is thronged with fashionable pedestrians. In the foreground five fashionably dressed men advance, forming a phalanx which pushes on to the cobbled roadway a lady, dressed rather for the ball-room than the street, to whose arm clings a little girl; both are in back view. The men smile or leer. The lady's neck diminishes to a point, tresses of hair hang from her turban (cf. BMSat 8755), which is trimmed by a gigantic erect feather. Her over-dress hangs from her shoulders and swells into folds which sweep the ground. She holds a fan. (Small copy in Grego.) Behind (right) three ladies walk arm-in-arm in the roadway: a fat woman in a riding-habit, looking through an opera-glass, and two younger women, one with her face covered by a transparent veil reaching nearly to the (knees, the other looking demurely down. Among the crowd in the background a man arm-in-arm with a military officer in back view (? Lord Moira) resembles Fox."--British Museum online catalogue.

- Abstract:
- "Copy of a French print. A fashionable promenade. Two men walk towards each other, each with a lady hanging to each arm, all have their faces concealed by some part of their dress, hat, or collar, or both. One man has a round hat, with a fantastically curved brim projecting downwards. The other has a huge crescent-shaped cocked hat with the peaks dipping over face and back. Both have high, stiff, pointed collars projecting above the high collars of coat and waistcoat. The ladies wear bonnets with projecting scoops or a straw hat with broad contorted brim, with high neck-ruffles. A couple walk arm-in-arm, and in the background two ladies walk away. Another lady sits alone under a tree (left). The men wear knee-breeches. The ladies wear or carry shawls with their trailing dresses; their flat slippers are en cothurne."--British Museum online catalogue.

- Abstract:
- "A domestic interior. In the upper margin is engraved, "Give me the sweet delight of Love - a Catch", and the design illustrates the lines of the catch: "A smoky house, a failing trade, Six squalling brats, and a scolding jade." A man (full-face) stands disconsolately, his hands clasped while his virago of a wife (left) threatens him with her fist. One small child pulls his coat and points to a little brother kicking on the floor, while a rather older girl weeps with her pinafore to her eyes, and another boy blows a trumpet. This group is on the right. On the left one child clutches another by the hair. The man's toes protrude through one of his shoes, he is without breeches, and these hang from a nail on the wall (right) next his wife's hat. A parroquet sits screeching on the outside of its cage. The plaster has fallen from the wall in patches, showing bricks. A smoky fire burns in the grate (left); on the chimney-piece are tea-things."--British Museum online catalogue.

- Abstract:
- "A travesty of a French print, an apotheosis of Napoleon by Tardieu after Dabos. As in the original, the title is on a piece of fringed drapery between two naturalistic eagles; these flank an arc of the globe, its northern summit, more flattened than in the original. On the globe is a map, with 'France' in the centre, flanked (left) by 'Golfe of Venice' and 'Italy' and (right) 'Espagne' and 'Pologne'. On the north are 'Amsterdam Pres Unie' [sic] and 'Whestphalia'. From the summit of the globe rises a pole supporting the face of Napoleon, copied from the original but with the addition of a melancholy frown and transformed by the pole into a decollated head. It is inscribed 'Polar Star' and enclosed in a circle of writhing serpents which takes the place of a laurel wreath. Rays extend from the circle over the greater part of the design, with inscriptions radiating outwards: 'Assisting in the Assassination of Louis the 16th my Benefactor'; 'Murdering the Citizens of Paris under Roberspierre' [cf. British Museum Satires No. 9534]; 'Murdering the Citizens of Toulon' [see British Museum Satires No. 10095]; 'Insulting the Pope robbing and plundering the Churches &c &c.' [see British Museum Satires No. 8997]; 'Poisoning my own Sick Soldiers in the Hospital at Jaffa' [see British Museum Satires No. 10063]; 'Murdering the Duke Danguilme' [d' Enghien, see British Museum Satires No. 10251]; 'Treacherously betraying the king of Spain and his Family' [see British Museum Satires No. 10990]; 'Murdering the inhabitants of Madrid in cold Blood' [see British Museum Satires No. 11000]; 'Murdering Captain Wright in the Temple at Paris' [see British Museum Satires No. 11057]; 'Marrying two Wives and intriguing with the Daughter of one of them' [Hortense, cf. British Museum Satires No. 10362]; 'The Murder of Palm [see British Museum Satires No. 11053] of Hoffer &c &c.'; 'Leading 500000 Frenchmen to perish in Russia by the Severity of the Season 1812' [see British Museum Satires No. 11917, &c.]; 'Loosing another similar Army the following Year in Germany 1813' [see British Museum Satires No. 12093]; 'Writing lying Bulletins' [see British Museum Satires No. 11920]; 'Loosing all the Colonies Commerce and Shipping' [cf. British Museum Satires No. 10439, &c.]. At this point, in the upper right corner, an open cask inscribed 'Dutch Comet', divides the inscriptions. A fat Dutchman smoking a pipe sits astride it; he directs the contents of the cask against Napoleon (see British Museum Satires No. 12102). The final inscription: 'And for all these brilliant Exploits am now to be sent headlong to the Devil.' In the original the rays are faintly inscribed 'Marie Louise' and 'Roi de Rome'. The design is surmounted by the head of the Devil wearing a spiky crown inscribed 'Damnation', between two oval shields: on one a heart, 'Heart of a Tyrant', on the other a 'Vulture'. These emblems replace a crown between two shields, one with the Napoleonic eagle, the other with the Habsburg eagle. From this centre-piece flames and smoke (replacing olive branches) stream left and right, with a scourge and a barbed trident. The lower corners are decorated with trophies slanting outwards from the eagles: spears, eagles, axes, &c., one spear supporting a placard: 'Flags manufactured for the Empress'. In the original spears are faintly indicated."--British Museum online catalogue.

- "Time stands behind an oval table covered with a cloth on which is an hour-glass, its sands nearly run out, standing on a large flat book inscribed 'Traitè de Paix', from which five seals hang evenly. Behind him is a doorway in a stone wall, covered with a curtain, one side of which he holds. With his left forefinger he points upwards at the inscription above the door: 'L'avenir', which is decorated with seven (drooping) ears of corn. The seals are inscribed (left to right): 'F.W.' [Frederick William of Prussia]; 'G Rx', with its ribbon inscribed 'God save the King'; France; a crowned 'C' [Catherine II]; 'Fr. Imp.' [Francis Imperator] (prophetic of the powers that decided the fate of Holland in 1815). 'Le génie du Terns garde la porte de l'avenir;... Qui est le mortel assez hardi, pour oser le penetrer? . . .' - Abstract:
- "A tall French soldier, swarthy, mustachioed, muscular, and sinister stands almost full-face, his mouth open as if shouting. In his large cocked hat are three large favours, one white inscribed 'Vive Le Roi', one tricolour inscribed 'Vive Le Empereur', the uppermost and largest, 'Vive Le Diable', is pink. He holds his musket by the barrel, the butt resting on the ground, in his left hand he holds out a snuff-box. His uniform is neat, but his feet are bare, except for remnants of leather across the instep. By his head in large letters: 'French Constancy' (left) and 'French Integrity' (right).
