- "Design in a circle. Three men sit by a rectangular supper-table, a grandfather-clock behind them points to XI. The man on the left is having his jack-boots pulled off by a small boy; the boy stands astride his right leg pulling hard, his back to the man, who is scowling and pushes his other booted foot against the boy's back; on the floor are a pair of spurs, a pair of slippers, and a boot-jack. A man (right) wearing a night-cap, but otherwise completely dressed and wearing spurred boots, leans one elbow on the table, his face contorted as if in pain, he holds his hand to his thigh. On the table beside him is a small packet inscribed "Diaculum". In the centre, and on the farther side of the table, the third man leans both elbows on the table, his hair is tousled and his eyes are shut. A man-servant behind, yawning, is carrying off a square box, probably a wig-box, while a maidservant stands on the right, a candle in one hand, a warming-pan in the other, watching with amusement the efforts of the boy to pull off the boot. Three hats hang on the wall; a bottle, a plate, three wine-glasses, and a guttering candle, burnt down to the socket, stand on the table."--British Museum online catalogue

- Abstract:
- Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn (1749-1789), politician and patron of the arts, held summer performances at his estate at Wynnstay, in North Wales. Bunbury incorporates into the design of this admission ticket the titles for the 1785 season: The Confederacy, As You Like It, The Agreeable Surprise, Venice Preserved, and Harlequin's Invasion. The titles are shown on banners held by the figures of Tragedy, Comedy, Pantomime, and Farce or draped over the branches of the tree. Bunbury uses Farce dressed as a harlequin holding a club labelled "invasion" to form a rebus of Garrick's play. In the background, the four figures are identified on the sails of a windmill. In the banner at the top of the oval is the name of the theatre and the year "1785"; at the top and bottom of the oval are the masks of comedy and tragedy

- "A strip design of a sequence of eighteen figures, all men. Their gestures and expressions denote pleasure, surprise, or horror (real or affected). Over the head of each person the words he speaks are engraved. The first (left) runs forward in profile to the right, 'chapeau bras', both arms extended, exclaiming "Tis true". The next, looking away gloomily, says, "Tis Pity". A man, with a pleased smile, says "As tender as possible". His neighbour says "Dont mention it", to a man who says "Poo, Poo". The next, clenching his fist, says angrily, "God Zounds hold - your Tongue", addressing a foppish man who capers delightedly, saying "Ha Ha". The next, with a shocked (but pleased) expression says "O La !" to a man who answers, "Dear me you dont say so?" A stout man yawns "Heigh ho". A lean one says "O Fye". The next couple, addressing each other, say "Indeed!" and "There now". The next, highly pleased, says "I thought so" to an angry man who exclaims "The Devil!" A lean austere man, raising a hand, says "No sure". A foppish man, 'chapeau bras', bowing with his hand on his heart, says, "Depend upon it". The last, horrified, exclaims "O Lord! O Lord!"."--British Museum online catalogue
